All or Nothing Thinking Sabotoges Your Health

So, you just finished up Thanksgiving.  You sat down to a meal of turkey and stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and other high carb yummies.  You overate.  You tried all three varieties of pies that grandma baked all day.  You skipped some workouts.  You weighed yourself and the scale went "Sproing!"  You might as well give up and start up after the New Year, right?

WRONG!!

That kind of all or nothing thinking sabatoges your health.  Actually, it sabatoges a lot of things, but we'll just stick to your health for this post.  This time of year is hard on our healthy diets and work out schedules, but it is definitely not a reason to throw you hands in the air and wave the white flag in the face of unhealthy behaviors.

The best thing you can do is to keep reminding yourself that this is just a minor setback and you will get back on track tomorrow.  Eat lighter these days after Thanksgiving.  That will balance out your big turkey feast.  Can't get a full workout in because of a busy schedule?  That's OK.  Don't give up entirely.  Do a shorter workout instead.  At the very least, get out and go for a walk.  Invite some of the visiting relatives with you.  Maybe it will get them started on a healthier lifestyle too!
