Get Your Daily Burn!

I just found a new website that is great for helping you figure out how many calories you should be eating, how many you are using and how you need to adjust to lose, gain or maintain weight.  It called Daily Burn.  I found it while I was browsing other blogs.  I wish I could give credit to the blogging diva who reviewed it first, but I was browsing aimlessly.  Thank you anonymous blogging diva!

This site is free, with an upgrade to Pro which costs about two dollars a month.  So far all I have tried is the free membership, but it's been great.  I was able to enter my height, weight and activity status.  The site left me know how many calories I should be eating.  It broke these down into how much fat protein and carbs I should be eating.  The pro would also break it down further to show you how much fiber, cholesteral etc. you should be getting.

You could then put in your goal weight and the site will calculate how many calories you should be eating to lose the weight you want in a safe manner.  Each day, you can enter what foods you are eating and the site keeps a running total of the calories you have consumed and breaks those down into nutrient categories (see above).  It lets you know when you have gone over in any category.  I found out I just can't keep the carbs under what they should be!

iphone owners, there is an app so you can calculate on the go and there is also another very cool app that you can use to scan bar codes of foods you eat and it will calculate this into your Daily Burn.  I added the Daily Burn gadget to my igoogle.

You can keep track of your daily workouts as well.  None of the things I am doing for workouts is loaded into their database, so it didn't estimate my calorie expenditure correctly, but this was minor to me.  I really like the running tally for calories.  It was such a pain before to add them manually.  Daily Burn is a great tool.  You should definitely check it out.
