When I get done with work, I usually run a few errands and then head for the gym. My own home. After joining many different classes and gyms, I've found that working out at home works best for me. It may not be for everyone, but let me tell you why it works for me.
1. My gym never closes. I can work out when I first roll out of bed. I can work out at midnight. Or I can work out anywhere in between. I never lose money because I can't get to the gym for a few weeks and I never miss a fitness class I have signed up and paid for. I used to belong to Curves (which I really liked when I was there), but I coached soccer in the fall and hardly made it in before closing. Soccer season lasted three months. I spent about $260.00 per year at Curves so I was losing approximately $65.00 during soccer season.
2. My gym is cheaper than the others. My workout routine consists of P90X+, P90X and Ten Minute Trainer routines. These three Beachbody programs cost a total of $290.00. I will have these programs indefinitely and can use them whenever I want for as long as I want. Compare that to the $260.00 yearly cost for Curves. Again, I'm not knocking Curves. I really liked it when I was there. It's just that financially, working out at home makes more sense for me.
3. I am in the best shape of my life. The programs I am using are great quality and I can use them more consistently than when I was trying to fit going to the gym into my busy schedule. I never do the same workout two days in a row so it's never boring.
4. I have seen great results and that keeps me motivated to keep working out. With other types of programs I was doing, the results would slow down and then I would lose interest.
So..if you are struggling to get to a gym where you are paying BIG BUCKS for membership fees, think about setting up your home gym. You might find that it's the perfect place to work out. It works for me!
