I took my daughter for lunch today and she wanted to go to local fast food restaurant. I won't mention the name, but it rhymes with Darby's. Trying to eat a more healthy fare, I ordered the roast chicken and swiss deli sandwich. It came on whole grain bread, topped with lettuce and tomato, just a little mayo and some zippy type of sauce. It looked healthy, it tasted great and I was feeling good about my choice, until I came home and added my meal into the daily burn. Imagine my surprise when the sandwich I ate weighed in at over 700 calories! Yikes.
Now looking back, I should have known by the size of the giant thing that it would have been high in calories, but I was so pleased that I could find something healthy on the menu that I didn't think that much about it. Half of it would have been plenty for lunch.
Luckily, we had a light menu planned for supper, so it balanced out. That doesn't usually happen for the average American eating at a fast food place. So, just remember that "healthy" in Fast Food Land does not equal "low calorie".

This issue has been resolved March this year. The government banned meals high in calorie like the case of McDonalds.
