Transition
I took my personal stuff to my new school today. It felt weird going into a new school after so many years at Indian Valley High School. I did work in that building as part of another program at another agency years ago. It's not totally foreign to me. I left and thought I will just leave that behind until closer to the school year, but it will be in the back of my mind all summer. New building, new students, new grade level. It will be a year of transition. It is somewhat comforting to know that almost all of the teachers in my district are in the exact same boat as I am. We are undergoing a major redistricting in order to meet our decreased budget brought on by the economic situation. Add to that the fact that two years ago our district began building a HUGE brand new high school. Then add in that the property taxes in our county have not risen in twelve years and you have a definite budget crunch. The sad fact remains that about 70 teachers will not be returning to work next year. I will keep you posted....
